This fund is named in honour of Art Smith a founding member of the Calgary Booster Club who was universally recognized as a great Canadian and popularly known as Mr. Calgary.
The Art Smith Amateur Sports Legacy Fund is a partnership between the Calgary Booster Club and the Parks Foundation Calgary. Together these two groups are building an endowment fund to provide much needed assistance for amateur athletes. The grants will provide awards up to $1000 to the athlete. The requirements for the award are listed below.
Grants are based on level of performance and financial need. Applicants should be:
- Calgary resident, or training within the City of Calgary municipal limits
- successfully competing at a provincial or national level of competition on the verge of moving up to the next level
- competing at high performance national/international competitions
-The Art Smith Amateur Sports Legacy Grants will be announced and awarded at the Calgary Booster Club’s annual gala dinner event in April.
- All applications must be complete and submitted by Friday, March 1, 2019. A complete application will include the application form, proof of enrollment, two letters of recommendation to support your application. A headshot photo in uniform and an action shot in your sport must be included. Incomplete applications may be declined.. Applications can be submitted electronically by email, or by mail (postmarked by Friday, March 1, 2019).
